Robert Lloyd “Bob” Rigler, longtime resident of Grande Prairie, Alberta, passed away at Points West Hospice in Grande Prairie on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at the age of 80 years. Bob was born in Hythe, Alberta on July 31, 1933, the third son of 12 children born to Murlund and Vera Rigler. He met the love of his life, Kathleen (Kitty) Gorman in 1953 and they were wed on June 13, 1956. They welcomed their first son, Terry, in 1957 (deceased 1964), then came Darlene in 1960, Doug in 1961, and David in 1967. Bob was always active in the local sports scene, namely Hockey and Ball, then becoming an avid spectator at many arenas. First watching his sons, Doug and David, then his grandchildren and then anyone else that was on the ice (including his Oilers and Leafs). Bob was always the first to help our in any mechanical or constructive endeavor. Anyone at Sturgeon Lake could always count on Bob for help. He worked at his own company, M&M Services as well as at Ken’s Trenching, and then at Rentco Equipment until his retirement. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 57 years, Kitty, and his children Darlene, Doug (Lynne), Dave (Nancy-Marie); his grandchildren Jamie (Jason), Ryan, Stephanie, Scott (Tatum), Sean (Chelsea), Noelle, Jordan, Caitlyn, Hayden, Jade, Sabrina, and Sean; and great-grandchildren Luke, Ethan, Haley, and Cecelia, and his honorary daughter, Colleen. He will also be missed by the rest of his extended family and numerous friends including his A&W coffee buddies and his lake families. He was predeceased by his son Terry; parents Vera and Murlund; parents-in-law Helen and Tom Gorman, brothers Cliff and Bill; in-laws Pat and Mae Gorman and George Cambridge. A Celebration of Life will be held at Forbes Presbyterian Church on Friday, November 22 at 2PM, with Reverend George Malcolm officiating. Everyone is welcome.
