Hans Krug

Obituary of Hans Henry Krug

Hans was born to the late Paula Reid and Heinrich Krug, on November 2, 1933, in Frankfurt, Germany. He had a brother, Heinrich and a sister, Gisela. Hans was educated in Germany. He spent the majority of his working career involved in both engineering in his earlier years, to hands-on work with a lifetime of carpentry and flooring ranging from his home country of Germany, to here in Canada. Hans had a spontaneous nature, a sharp wit, and a hilarious sense of humor. He was intelligent, intuitive, passionate, and generous. He loved travelling, vehicles, new technology, and the finer things in life. He was an amazing chef who appreciated great cuisine. Hans had many adventures and friendships, having travelled to numberous countries in his earlier years, but he thought Canada was the cleanest, most beautiful place in the world. He has lived in multiple cities from Thunder Bay, ON, to Vancouver Island, but thirteen years ago settled down in Grande Prairie with his best friend and companion, Heather Mole, where they were both employed at Carpet Superstore. Hans is survived by Heather and his siblings, Heinrich and Gisela. He is also survived by his two sons, Timothy and Christopher, and his daughter, Jessica. He has nine grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. Mok, Dr. Ibbotson, and Dr. Emily Stevenson for their incredible compassion and care of Hans in the past several years. We would also like to thank the nurses of 4-North, and Holly and her amazing staff at Points West Hospice. You all made his final weeks bearable for him and for us. There will be a small celebration commemorating Hans’ life at the Stonebridge Hotel on March 1, 2013, from 6:30 – 9:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made to the Alberta Cancer Society or the QEII Hospital Foundation.
