Obituary of Jean Patricia Robideau
Jean Patricia Robideau (nee Coney), long-time resident of Grande Prairie and the Crystal Creek area, passed away on November 30, 2013, at the age of 79.
Jean was raised in the Fitzsimmons area and attended grades 1 & 2 there before moving to Calgary to attend grades 3-7, then grades 7-8 in the Linsay School, finishing grade 9 in Grande Prairie, and completing
grade 10 by correspondence. Jean married Ray Robideau on November 19, 1952 at the Alliance Church in Grande Prairie. They lived numerous places the first seven years even in an 8X10 foot trailer Dad built, until they purchased their ¼ section 11 miles east of 4 mile corner. They moved the old Fitzsimmons school to the farm and made it their home in 1960. Jean and Ray raised their family and enjoyed the farm life until May 1997, when they sold and moved into Grande Prairie where they reside now. Jean held several jobs over the years to help raise the family. She enjoyed renovating her many investment properties, which she did until she was 70. Jean’s many hobbies included curling, golf, music and visiting with many family and friends. Ray and Jean just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary, and were blessed with many friends and family coming over to visit.
Jean is survived by her husband Ray; children Sherman (Kathy), Wendell (Myrna), Chris (Cindy), Trudy (Ron Andres), Debbie (Brent Ferris), Charlotte, Janice (Alan Belyan), and Roberta (Jim Meeres); sister Marj Robideau, brother Keith Coney, sister-in-law Louise Kimble, 19 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Jean was pre-deceased by many loved ones.
