Laurids Boysen

Obituary of Laurids Frode Boysen

Larry was born in Denmark in 1923, the second youngest of 10 children. He left Denmark to settle in Canada in 1950, and married Rosemarie McGuire in 1957 – they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on December 16th, 2013. They lived in Dawson Creek from 1960 – 1980, where they raised their five girls. His retirement project was the farm out at Jackfish Lake, where they lived from 1980 – 2000. From there, they moved back into Dawson Creek until 2007, where they settled in Grande Prairie to be closer to family. Larry loved the outdoors, farming, gardening, camping, fishing, reading, the Toronto Maple Leafs, curling, politics, and above all else, family. He was a man of faith and was an active participant in both the Church of the Nazarene and the Salvation Army. He will be remembered for his steadfast devotion to his wife and family, his unwavering principles and his solid work ethic. He lived a rich and rewarding life. If you were to meet Larry on the street and ask him how he was, he was likely to look you straight in the eye and say, “Every day is a 10.” Larry passed away at Points West Living in Grande Prairie, Alberta, on December 19, 2013. He is survived by his wife Rosemarie Boysen; daughters Norma (Bruce), Marie (Glen), Kathy (Vance), Sheila, and Jessie; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and his sisters Ida and Astrid. Larry was predeceased by brothers Hans and Kristian, and sisters Catherine, Jenny, Elly, and Gerda.
