It is with saddened hearts the family announces the passing of Lloyd Hansen, long time resident of Grovedale, Alberta on February 23, 2013 at the age of 81 years. Lloyd was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on September 26, 1931 to Joseph and Ingeborg Hansen. From a young age Lloyd had a hard work ethic that served him well as he built a successful business in logging, trucking and farming. He was an honest man of quiet strength; a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend and will be sorely missed by, his wife of 62 years, Vera; daughters Donna (Pender) and Charlene (Gordon); sons Wayne (Opal), Randy (Brenda) and Darrel (Terri); 18 grandchildren and their spouses; 32 great-grandchildren; his sister Liz Lewis; brothers and sisters in-law, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Lloyd was predeceased by his mother Ingeborg, father Joseph, grandson Ryan, great grandson Sawyer, his sisters Tillie Nilsson and MaryAnn Hansen and brothers Ernie Hansen and Hans Hansen. Viewing will be held at Christian Fellowship Assembly on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 7:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Christian Fellowship Assembly on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at the Grovedale cemetery and then a time of fellowship and lunch at the Grovedale Hall. Memorial donations may be made to the Grande Prairie Hospice Palliative Care Society (GPHPCS).
