Obituary of Alda Isaac
ISAAC, ALDA (1921-2014) Alda A. Isaac was born to Jacob L Toews and Mary Unruh Toews on January 27, 1921 at Linden, Alberta. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family, at the Ridgevalley Home in Crooked Creek, Alberta on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. She was 93.
Alda enjoyed a happy childhood in Linden, Alberta, growing up on the family farm with her six sisters and three brothers. She attended the Kneehill School in Linden, completing the eighth grade.
At a young age, she accepted Jesus as her personal Savior and has been a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite through the rest of her life. She was a wonderful Christian example.
On October 6, 1940 she married Philip Isaac, the love of her life. In the spring of 1941, they moved to their homestead in Crooked Creek. Their first home was a lovely sturdily built log house. Life on the homestead was difficult at first, but they stuck it out with courage, making many happy memories. They were farmers all their lives.
Alda was a quiet and efficient wife and mother, working very hard by her husband’s side. She cheerfully raised her eight children and dearly loved her grandchildren. They remember many happy times playing games with her.
She was a very good cook, serving countless delicious meals to family and friends. Alda was also a gifted seamstress and lovingly sewed clothes for her family. Piecing quilts was one hobby; she made numerous beautiful blankets and quilts. She loved to put puzzles together or read a good book.
She lost her husband Philip in 1985, leaving her a widow for 29 years.
