Rick Friesen passed away peacefully at his home in Grande Prairie, Alberta, on April 25, 2014, at the age of 58 years. Rick was born in Calgary on July 16, 1955 and moved to BC while still a young boy to live with his Aunt & Uncle along with his brother Don. He grew up near Maple Ridge and after leaving school he became a cabinet maker. Rick married Jacqueline Starmans in the early ‘80s, in Sardis, BC. Their children Joey & Roxanne were born in ’85 & ’86. In 1997 he moved back to Calgary and then in 2009 he moved to Grande Prairie. Rick leaves behind his daughter Roxanne Friesen (& Nick), his son Joey Friesen (& Ilse) & their mother Jacqueline Starmans, in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Also sisters & brothers from family #1… Barbara Wright (son Shane & Launa), Dianne Richards (& Sheron), Joanne Friesen, Bob Richards, Gary Friesen (& Wendy; daughters Chantell & John; Tanya & Daryl; Corrin & Curtis) & Don Friesen. And from family #2 Dave Friesen Sr (& Sandra), Eloise Tharp (& Tom), Roxanne Lindsay (& Ron) & Dave Friesen Jr (& Parv). At this time there is no service planned in Canada. His ashes will be flown to Netherlands for a service with his son & daughter & family. In the summer months there will be a combined celebration of life for 3 family members, including Rick, who have recently passed on.
