February 7, 1923 – December 3, 2016 Elvin Gordon, resident of Points West Living, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2016, with his loving wife Matilda at his side. Elvin was born in Holland Centre, Ontario to Amelia and William Gordon. He spent his early childhood years on the family farm, and enjoyed all the hunting and fishing trips when his parents and three siblings, Macklin, Anne and Ralph moved to Burk’s Falls. Elvin was a navigator in the RCAF, flying bombing missions during World War II. When he returned, he finished university and moved to BC to teach. He also completed his Agricultural Mechanics degree at UBC. He taught in several communities in BC and retired from the Squamish school district in 1977. He ‘homesteaded’ in the Valleyview area and met his wife, Matilda, in 1985. They were married in 1989 and have spent the last 30 years together enjoying family, gardening and each other’s company. Elvin leaves to mourn his wife Matilda Brown (Jantz) (Macklin); granddaughter Charity (Kris) Watson and great-grandchildren David, Hannah, John and Mary; Matilda’s children Irv Macklin, Art (Donna) Macklin, Ann (Bill) Pearson (New Zealand), Carmen Macklin and their families; and Elvin’s brother Mac Gordon and family, sister Ann Smith and family, and his late brother Ralph’s family. Elvin was always thrilled and delighted with the visits of his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
