Obituary of Donald William Hynd

July 19, 1954 – January 27, 2017 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Don Hynd in the early hours of January 27, 2017, at 62 years of age. He passed in comfort at Points West Living Hospice in Grande Prairie, Alberta, after the recent discovery of and rapid decline from cancer of his small intestine. Born on July 19, 1954 in New Westminster, BC, he spent his childhood years in Saskatoon and Norquay, SK. Over the years he worked a wide variety of jobs, finally settling into a long career driving in the logging and oil & gas industries. He never looked back after starting with Ferus, his ‘grab life by the horns’ attitude progressing him into sales and management positions. Affectionately known as ‘Father Time’, he touched many lives as both a co-worker and a leader. It was also during these years that he met his wife Angele in Regina in 1974. They were married on June 2, 1979 in Sturgis, SK and were blessed with 3 sons; Tylor, Jonathan, and Matthew. His family was his pride, joy and focus. No sacrifice was too big to ensure they got the best. Don will be well remembered for his amazing sense of humor and talented storytelling. Children and animals were drawn to him and were captured by his kind eyes, friendly smile and larger than life personality. His genuine character shined through with every passionate and unique reliving of his many experiences. Don always looked forward to camping and being outdoors among friends and family. He had a special place in his heart reserved for anything and everything car related, with a project or two usually on the go. He is survived by his loving family: wife Angele, sons Tylor, Jonathan and Matthew; Siblings Joanne (Tim), Ed (Linda), Bob, Linda (Don), Norine (Richard), and families. Don was pre-deceased by his Mother Mary Eleanor Adams, Father William James Hynd, and Brother Doug Hynd. Memorial donations may be made in Don’s name to the Grande Prairie Hospice Palliative Care Society www.gphospice.ca PO Box 21215 Grande Prairie AB T8V 6W7 Care entrusted to Bear Creek Funeral Home 780-830-7742 www.bearcreekfuneral.com
