Therese Morris

Obituary of Therese Lynne Mary Morris

May 5, 1961 – February 26, 2017 Terry was born May 5, 1961, to Stewart and Lena Morris at the Red Deer General Hospital. Tiny from the beginning, she weighed just over 3 pounds, and was not expected to survive. The Last Rites were administered by our priest on her fist day of life, however Terry was a fighter from the start. Terry attended Maryview Elementary in Red Deer, before moving to Grande Prairie where she attended Holy Cross Junior High and St Joseph’s Catholic School. Terry worked in many local businesses, primarily in the fast food and hospitality industry. These included McDonalds, A & W, Grande Prairie Inn, Golden Inn, Stonebridge Hotel, and Midtown Restaurant. She also worked at Morris Financial Group for a number of years as their receptionist. Terry had a keen sense of humour and loved to laugh. She enjoyed many years of camping with family, and loved spending time with her nieces and nephews. Not blessed with children of her own, Terry’s love was bestowed on her cats over many years. Her two favorite things in her home were the colour red, and cats- both as pets and decorations. These furry friends gave Terry much happiness and comfort over the years, especially during her three year battle with cancer. She ultimately lost this fight on Feb 26, surrounded by family and friends. Terry had many friends and will be missed by all who loved her. Special thanks to the Homecare providers and staff at the Fairview Hospital, the doctors and staff at the QE11 Cancer Clinic, as well as the wonderful staff at the Hospice at Points West. Sincere thanks to those close friends who spent many hours with her these last few weeks, especially Wendy Doucet, Elaine and Cristine, Peggy and Michelle. Many thanks to Frank and Stan who were an incredible help during Terry’s time in Fairview before going into hospital. Terry is survived by her three brothers and their families; Doug & Laurie Morris, (Douglas & Jaimee); Tom Morris & Laura White, (Kora Lee); Vince & Sherry Morris, (Brad Marcoux & Jayme); also her mother-in-law Elaine Mahaffey, sisters-in- law Cristine Bryan, and Shurl Morris, Aunt Marilyn & Uncle Reg Garnett and cousins Cindy & David Garnett. Terry was pre-deceased by her parents Stewart & Lena Morris, and her grandparents John & Mildred Morris, and George & Victoria Plante. A Celebration of Life for Terry will be held at a later date.
