Obituary of Anna Janette Lambert

Janette Lambert passed away on November 18, 2014 in Grande Prairie, Alberta. After a caring and full life of 77 years, Janette is now home. Daughter of Mary Adele and Pete Andrew Lambert, Janette was born at the family homestead near North Vermilion, also known as Buttertown, Alberta, on April 14, 1937. Mom had fond memories of growing up in a loving home full of music – fiddles, guitars, harmonica and jigging. She became a caretaker of her younger siblings, before moving as a teenager to Edmonton to live with her sister, Dorothy. She later settled in the beautiful Peace River Valley where she raised her six daughters. Eventually moving to Grande Prairie for vocational school and was soon attending Evangel Assembly and making new friends. During this time she invited a special family friend, Esther, into the family. Janette was an accomplished seamstress and knitter, always quilting and sewing, and she loved to cook and bake for her family. She was an example of a true caregiver, selflessly sharing more than she had. She always said ‘my family are my jewels’. Janette was actively involved in Women’s Aglow and 55 Plus; she worked and volunteered for 25 years at the QE II Hospital, continuing her volunteer activities for many years after retirement. She loved walking and was often seen making her way about the community. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children Debbie (Alan) Turner, Cindy (Dave) Ray, Julie (Neil) Hills, Angie Beauchamp, Esther (Don) Peaker, Lindy (Ben) Chester and Mary-Ellen Beauchamp, as well as her sixteen grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Dorothy, Olive, and Christine, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and many dearly loved longtime friends.
