Obituary of Gregory Scott Dacyk

Gregory Scott Dacyk, 38, of Clear Prairie, Alberta, died suddenly on Thursday, April 13th, 2017, in a vehicle collision outside of Sexsmith, Alberta. Greg Dacyk was born in Fairview, Alberta to Larry and Evelyn Dacyk on July 7th, 1978. He was raised in Clear Prairie surrounded by his large, loving family. He attended Worsley Central School where he graduated in 1996. He then attended Fairview College and went on to have a career in the oil and gas industry. Greg loved the outdoors and pursued many hobbies such as hunting, quadding, and photography. In the fall of 2007, Greg went on a quadding trip where his nephew, Matt, introduced Greg to Jessica Kelleher. Greg and Jess’s romance quickly developed and Jess joined Greg on an amazing trip throughout New Zealand and Australia. The couple then lived briefly in Grande Prairie, and were married at the Dacyk family farm in Clear Prairie on July 11th, 2009. Their first daughter, Logan Anne Dacyk, was born in Grande Prairie on April 17th, 2010. The three then moved to Clear Prairie in June of 2010, where Greg and his relatives built their dream home on a quarter they purchased from Gregs' parents. Shortly after they moved into their new house, Greg and Jess welcomed their second daughter, Hollyn Paton Dacyk, on August 21st, 2011. With their family complete, they settled in to raising their daughters and improving their land. Greg loved farming and worked alongside his parents on the farm. He was in the process of taking over the family farm and was hoping to finalize these plans this fall. Greg was a loving and protective father who enjoyed raising his daughters where he grew up. He took seriously his role of husband, father, and son – he was a hard worker and amazing provider. Greg loved and was proud of his large extended family and enjoyed spending time with his siblings and nephews. Greg is survived by his wife Jess Dacyk, daughters Logan Anne Dacyk (7), and Hollyn Paton Dacyk (5), of Clear Prairie, Alberta. He is also survived by his parents Larry and Evelyn Dacyk, of Clear Prairie, Alberta, his sister Laurie (Darwin) Flahr, of Ponoka, Alberta, his brother Alan (Casey) Dacyk of Ponoka, Alberta, as well as his nephews Matthew, Dillon, and Riley Flahr. Greg was pre-deceased by his grandparents Bill and Mary Dacyk, as well as Alton and Hazel Patton. Greg’s funeral will take place Saturday, April 29th, 2017 at 1:00pm at St. Paul’s United Church in Fairview, Alberta. The interment will be at the Clear Prairie Cemetery. Lunch will follow at the Worsley Central School gymnasium. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to STARS. The family would like to express their gratitude to their friends, extended family, and their community. Your love and support through the years and through this painful time will always be treasured along with Greg’s memory. Forever loved and remembered.
