Obituary of Frank Ian Agostini
~~December 25, 1927 – May 2, 2017
Frank Ian Agostini passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 in Grande Prairie, Alberta, at the age of 89. He was born in San Fernando, Trinidad on December 25, 1927 to Joseph (Sonny) and Olive Agostini. He left Trinidad at the age of 19 to work in the oilfields of Venezuela. He, and later his family, spent many years there until he transferred to western Canada, also to work in the oilfield. He changed career paths around 1990 when he started work as a driver education instructor. Many will remember the little red Nissan braking suddenly driving around town. After he retired, he was one of the first employees hired at the Walmart in Grande Prairie. He continued there until just shortly after he received his 15 year award. This was a job he really enjoyed in his later years.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Douglas Ian Agostini and Bernie, children, Tamatha (Chris) and Candace (Bruce) and their children, Stefan, Shane and Ava; his daughter and son-in-law, Verna Lynn Terrell and Arnold; his grandson, James Ian Terrell, his great-granddaughters, Isabella and Veronica Terrell; his sister-in-law, Mary Agostini; his nieces, Kathy, Wendy, Judy and Jennifer, his nephews, Richard and Geoffrey, and his former wife and life-long friend, Patricia Gunter. He is also survived by his good friend and companion, during his later years, Ruth Haining.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Gerald McKenzie and his brother, Peter Agostini.
Memorial and burial will take place this summer in Grovedale, Alberta
