Obituary of Ruben Bruce Brehmer
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ruben Bruce Brehmer on May 20, 2017 at the age of 56.
Ruben Bruce Brehmer was born in Porcupine Plain, SK on September 25th, 1960 and was raised in Weekes, SK; before earning his Journeyman Red Seal certification in Carpentry in Saskatoon and moving to Grande Prairie in May of 1990. He later moved to Clairmont, AB, where he made his permanent residence.
Ruben worked for Hart Homes as a builder and went on to form RK Construction with a business partner. In 2007, Ruben went to work with his long-time friend Colin Ruxton at his sawmill in Wembley, AB.
Ruben is survived by his loving wife, Patty Brehmer and his Stepchildren, David (Nancy) Roussel and Christine Roussel; as well as his Mother Irene and brother Edwin from Weekes, SK; his sister Sally (Dennis) Rogowsky from Stoney Mountain, MB; his sister Sheila (Gerry) Dempsey from Swift Current, SK and brother, Wayne (Norma), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Herman; his grandparents and most recently; his sister, Lois Westwood of Brandon, MB; who passed away on February 26th of this year.
Ruben was a skilled carpenter, who took great care in his work. He had a kind and generous nature and will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his well tended gardens, and his quiet, gentle demeanor.
He will be very sadly missed by those who knew him.
Ruben’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff on 5 North at the QEII Hospital for their excellent care during his stay.
As per Ruben’s request, there will be no formal service.
