Obituary of Earl Jerome Norton
Earl Norton passed away peacefully at the age of 101 years old in Grande Prairie AB.
Earl was born in Minnesota and came to Canada in 1918 at the age of 4 with his parents where they settled in the Bezanson area. Earl quit school at an early age to go harvesting and work in sawmills. Later he did carpentry work for a number of years. He joined the Service and spent four and a half years in the Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. After his discharge, he went back to carpentry work for roughly 10 years. Earl and his brother Clyde, bought a sawmill and timber berth and they ran a sawmill and planing operation for nineteen years. Together they also operated Cats; working for oil companies, logging companies, etc. They sold out in 1978.
Earl is predeceased by his wife Mary (Smashnuk), his brothers; Fred and Clyde, and his sisters; Stella, Olive, and Shirley.
He is survived by his brothers; Ralph (Pauline), and Edward, his sisters; Grace Menard, Ruby Boyer, and Laura Patterson. He is also survived by his daughter Marylyn (Brian MacDonald), his grandchildren Kent (Bonnie) Matheson and their daughter Audrey, Todd Matheson, and Kristen MacDonald along with many special nieces and nephews.
As per Earls request, there will be no funeral service.
