Obituary of Dennis Ferguson
In the evening of Friday, April 5 2013 Dennis Clayton Ferguson died peacefully after a long fought battle with cancer. Dennis was born October 21, 1939 at the Spirit River Hospital. The family moved to Picture Butte when he was 4, but they returned when he was 16.
Dennis graduated from Spirit River High School. He had a passion for baseball and played for both the Rycroft Rebels and the Dawson Creek Cardinals. He met and married Marjorie Moody in 1962, had two daughters while playing ball in Dawson Creek. He graduated from U of C with a history degree but ended up with a successful career in the seismic exploration industry. He and Marjorie celebrated their 50th anniversary last April.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife Marjorie, and daughters Lyn Ferguson and Shelly (Greg) Ferguson Kent. Also grandchildren Mathew Lindsay(Jessica), Alicia Smashnuk (Greg), Alex Kent, Teagan Ferguson and Tommy Kent.
He is also survived by brothers Terry(Erica), Herb, Francis(Janet), Norman(Lorna) and Greg and sister Janet . There are also sisters-in-law Norma and Eileen and brother-in-law Howard Cox. In addition there are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents Henry and Marion Ferguson, brothers Don, Kenny and Gordon and his sister Eleanor, and his nephew Jeff and sister-in-law Bea.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Dennis on Saturday, April 13’13, 2PM at the Woking Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the GPHPCS (Grande Prairie Hospice Palliative Care Society – canadahelps.org) or the Tom Baker Cancer Centre (c/o Alberta Cancer Foundation) Arrangements were made through Bear Creek Funeral Home.
