Obituary of Douglas Gerald Ruch
"Crusher"
September 10, 1957 – October 26, 2017
Doug passed away October 26, 2017 of Cardiomegaly (enlarged heart).
Doug was born and raised in Grande Prairie and spent a short time in Edmonton and Red Deer. He was a Heavy Duty Machine Operator who could operate almost anything.
Doug loved kids and like his Dad enjoyed teasing them to no end. He was a very social person who enjoyed a good talk and a hearty laugh.
Doug loved to cook and was quite successful at it. He especially enjoyed making Chinese food, where every pot and bowl in the house seemed to be dirty. But that wasn’t his problem, as it was a rule if you cooked, you didn’t clean.
He was an avid sports fan and could tell you the stats of any player in any league. He especially enjoyed basketball, football and baseball. His dog was even named after Shaquille O'Neal (Shak).
Doug leaves his parents Hans and Carol, Sister Pat; his nieces Jamie, Amber, Stacey and their families.
A Graveside service for Family and Friends will be held November 10 at 1pm at the Glenn Leslie Cemetery with a gathering from 3-5 at the Elks Lodge, 10806-106 Street, Grande Prairie.
Donations in Doug's memory can be made to Rotary House 10101 -97A Street, Grande Prairie, Alberta T8V 0X3
