Marlene Sarah Schierman (nee Radke)
1942-2017
It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Marlene at McKenzie Place on Tuesday November 22, 2017 at the age of 75, with her daughter Darlene at her side.
She was the loving wife of Bernell (Bernie) Schierman for 56 years and a supportive Mother to Darlene (Terry) Haughian, Allen (Wendy) Schierman and Terry Schierman. A cherished Grandmother to Darcy Haughian, Courtney (Brent) Fulmek, Jancey (Ryan) Dolen and Kayla Haughian. Her great-grandchildren Cara Paul, Carter and Kelby Dolen, Brooklyn and Kennedy Fulmek always brought a sparkle to her eyes; hugs and kisses were rewarded with a $20 bill.
Marlene was predeceased by her parents Ernest (2003) and Addie (2009).
She is survived by siblings Arldene, Dennis, Dale ((Sandy), Garry (Vicky), Sandra, numerous nieces, nephews and family on Bernie’s side. She also touched the lives of friends and customers, Bernie and Marlene moved to Grande Prairie and resided in their own home for 48 years. Failing health had them sell their home earlier in 2017. Bernie and Marlene started their own company BerMar Rewind Ltd. in 1977 where their son Allen is the present owner.
Family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the staff on 2 East McKenzie Place for the care they gave since June 5, 2017 when that became Mom’s home. She always spoke of your kindness and that she was fortunate to live there. To Homecare who assisted in her care needs allowing her to stay in her own home for as long as she did. Also, a huge thank you to Joann Ball from Homecare who spent the time on Tuesday to ensure Mom’s care wishes were respected, facilitated equipment and that medications and care was available, allowing her to die peacefully and comfortable. Dr. Ibbotson (surgeon) and Dr. Best (Internal Medicine) intervened five and a half years ago when Mom first became ill and after a lengthy recovery family was able to make memories including celebrating her 70 and 75 birthdays. We are forever grateful for that extra time. Dr. Alex Noga will always have a special place in our hearts. We are forever grateful for your support, compassion and dedication to our Mom’s physical, mental and emotional well-being. Mom always appreciated your smile, care, time, knowledge and direction you gave her throughout the years.
