Obituary of Dennis Allen Davis

Al Davis

August 1, 1965 - February 9, 2018

It is with great shock and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis Allen Davis, 52.  Al passed away suddenly on Friday, February 9, 2018 in Grande Prairie, AB.

Al was predeceased by his mother, June; his father, Robert (Bob); and mother in law, Hedy.

Left to mourn with a life of precious memories, is his wife, Fran Ochsner; sons, Shane and Bradley Davis; brother, Larry Davis; sister, Cathy Davis; nieces, Chelann, Kendra Hoffert (Shadow Hoffert), Sheridan, and Jess Trueit; father in law, Magnus Ochsner; brother in law, John Ochsner (Dora Enman); sister in law, Margrit Ochsner (Dave Dominie); and nieces, Ashlea Mask (Graeme Mask), Isabel Pereira (Hector Perez), Shannon Ochsner (Chad McQuaid), and Nicolle Pereira.

Al was born and raised in Vancouver, and followed in his father’s footsteps, working in construction in the lower mainland and throughout BC. He moved to Kamloops, with his young family in 1994. In time he relocated to Grande Prairie, Alberta where he found his true passion, building bridges with his cousin Jay Gunnarson.  He was a master of his trade and like his father before him, a mentor to his bridge crews and defender of underdogs everywhere.

Al loved to spend time building projects that Fran designed for their home, feeding their kitties treats, and drinking beer in the garage, being a father to Shane and Brad and to all in the neighbourhood and so many others.  He was a professional hugger with the biggest heart whose laugh livened up any room graced by his presence and is loved by many.

A viewing for Al will be held at Bear Creek Funeral Home on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 2:00 PM. The Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 pm. To be officiated by Shane and Brad Davis.  The reception will be held afterward at the Crown and Anchor Pub. Instead of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Grande Prairie Food Bank.
