Obituary of Marjorie Gertrude Scott

Marjorie Gertrude (Groves) Scott

April 5, 1943 – May 16, 2018

Marjorie Scott, long-time resident of Crooked Creek, AB passed away at the QE II Hospital on May 16, 2018 at the age of 75 years young. Marj was born April 5, 1943 in Grande Prairie, AB

Her memory will be forever cherished by her husband of 57 years, Jack Scott; Son, Danny (Jenni) Scott; Granddaughter, Danielle (Logan) Pellerin, Granddaughter, Tawni(Craig) Gerwatoski; Daughter, Bev Scott (Ken George); Grandson, Cody(Rebecca) Rude, Grandson, Spencer Rude; Great Grandchildren, Dylan, Jersie and Landon Gerwatoski, Aiden Pellerin and Jack and Parker Rude. Marj is survived by her siblings, Doug (Val) Groves, and Tony Groves; brother-in-law, Rueben Newman; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and family on Jack’s side.

Marj grew up on the DeBolt farm, surrounded by her parents and four older siblings. Early in life she showed a great love for animals. As a young child she had a pet goat, pet chickens, dogs and cats, and of course her greatest love, horses. She earned the nickname “Butch” because of her tomboy lifestyle. In 1960 she married the love of her life, Jack Scott.  They made their home in the Clarkson Valley area where they raised their family.

Marj loved everything about being outside - gardening, caring for her flowers, and mowing the huge lawn. She enjoyed sitting on her deck watching the traffic go by. Marj was a strong community member and taught her family the value of belonging to a community.  She never missed watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in any event. Family came first to Marj, she loved to host family events and always decorated her home for all occasions. She made birthdays special, and Christmas mornings fantastic.

She was the Queen of her family.

She was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Gertrude Groves; her brothers, Herb and Edward Groves; and her sister, Margaret Newman.

A Celebration of Life for Marj will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 2:00 pm at The DeBolt Centre, (37 Alberta Ave, DeBolt, AB).
