Obituary of Eline Danielle Gundersen

Our dearest Mamma, Bestemor and Oldemor passed away peacefully at the Grande Prairie Care Centre surrounded by her loving family. Eline has gone to be with her Lord and Savior. Eline Gundersen was born Eline Danielle Nilsen on July 21, 1921 in Mikkelbostad, Dyrøy, Norway. At the age of 21 she married Gunner Gundersen of Uteng,Dyrøy, Norway. In 1953 Eline, Gunner and their five children left Norway and moved to a farm east of La Glace, Alberta. Three more children arrived, the first of which died in infancy. Eline and Gunner farmed until 1968 when they moved to Grande Prairie. Eline worked in the kitchen and laundry areas of the Grande Prairie Hospital, cafeteria at the Grande Prairie Regional College and in the cafeteria at the Grande Prairie Co-op. Eline was predeceased by her son Otto in 1955 and her husband Gunner in 1972. She is survived by her 7 children: Karen Fimrite, Ingrid (John) Zukiwski, Gun-Eli (Bud) Fink, Brynell (John) Hiebert, Olaf (Rose) Gundersen, Katherine (Donald) Mayer and Kenneth (Judy) Gundersen; her 20 grandchildren: Jason (Katherine) Fimrite, Jameson (Bobbie-Jo) Fimrite, Daena (Russell) Hullinger, Daren and Lara Zukiwski, Sean Fink, Kim (Dean) Tissington,Kurt (Chantel) Fink, Kristofer (Susan) Hiebert, Nathan and Erik Hiebert, Daniel (Wendy) Gundersen ,Nikole (Tyler) Emerson, Serina and Aaron Hotton, Silken and Anders Mayer , Kody, Kalen and Jesse Gundersen; and her 25 great-grandchildren: Shelby, Emma, Rory, Carson, Talin, Kol, Ty, Dustin, Bryce, Gabriel, Kali Danielle, Dakota, Alissa, Dalen, Kelsey, Noah, Kali, Anika, Holly, Svea, Olen, Gunner, Laura, Amber and Aleighah. From Norway, Eline leaves her sister Borghild Kvande, twin brothers Hans and Kjell Nilsen, nieces, nephews and friends. Eline was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Golden Age Centre and Sons of Norway. Eline would say a grateful “Tusen Takk” (thousand thanks) to all of you who cared for her so compassionately during this last year. We would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at the Care Centre, Pastor Greg , Pastor Dave, Dr. Jim and Sharon Pope, family and friends. We would like to thank all those who so lovingly shared her life’s journey. Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 10407- 100 St., Grande Prairie. In memory of Eline, a donation may be made to L.A.M.P. (Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots which is a Christian Mission serving communities in northern Canada) .
