Obituary of Mervin Harry Griffin
June 13, 1962-June 30, 2018
The family of Mervin Harry Griffin sadly announce his passing on June 30, 2018 in Grande Prairie, Alberta at the age of 56 years.
Merv was born in Saskatoon, then family moved to British Columbia. He went to school in Prince George.
He started working at Pizza Place at the age of 16, then at a car lot. At about 18 years of age, Merv moved to Alberta and had a few different jobs. He then found a job at Mor-Mac Slickline. This is where his love for wireline began. Merv loved to drive those wireline trucks until he needed back surgery, that’s when he left the field and started selling wireline products.
By the end of his career he had moved his way up to a mangers position. Merv and Lourie met in 1985, fell in love and married in 1989. They welcomed their first child, Micheal in 1990 and their second, Lindsay in 1993. Years later in 2014, Micheal married Michelle and added one more to the family.
Merv loved to go golfing and camping. Many good times were had with friends and family. He was never too busy to go for a drink with a friend or a customer. He used to smile and say, “I’m Pretty Good at Drinking Beer”.
Merv is survived by his wife Lourie Anne; his children, Micheal (Michelle), and Lindsay Griffin; Gerry (Joan) Griffin, Donna (Dave) Wohlgemuth, Kathy (Frank) Everett, Sandi (Bob) Campbell, and Ken Griffin.
He was predeceased by his mother Gladys; and his sister Brenda and her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 6 at 1:00 PM at Bear Creek Funeral Home/Richmond Reception Centre in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
