Obituary of Lex Gene Cyr

July 8, 1967-July 27, 2018

Lex Cyr, long time resident of Grovedale, AB, passed away suddenly at age 51, in the early morning of Friday, July 27, 2018, surrounded by his family, from complications of pneumonia. Lex’s best friend and confidant, Gail, holds dear the memories and support she and her sons received from Lex over the twenty plus years they shared.

Lex was a long time, loyal employee of the MD of Greenview. He loved to operate any piece of heavy equipment he could get his hands on. His wit, humor and commitment to a job well done will be missed by all there.

Lex is survived by his parents, Armand and Ellen Cyr, best friend Gail Flaglor-Bosch and her two sons, Bret and Jessie; brother Miles Cyr (Debbie); sister Crystal Martin and nieces Veronica (Jeremy Dougherty), Ethan and Austin; Kim (Adam St Amant) Bailey.

His parents Armand and Ellen looked forward to his weekly visits and will miss the crib games that were a long- standing competition. Mom has a farm of little skunks as a result of those games. Lex had a knack for beating the pants off most of us.

Lex was a quiet man, that lived a simple life. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed watching movies, playing cards, eating cucumbers, coffee with friends, his assortment of wild kittens and cats, giving the waitresses a hard time at the establishments where he had his meals, and wrestling with the young folks in his life. He liked to share jokes and laughter wherever he went.

How’s it going Lex? “40% good, 40% not so good” he would reply.

What about the other 20%? “Oh, that’s for the taxes!”

Well Lex you are 100% all good now.

An informal Celebration of Life will take place on August 4, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Bear Creek Funeral Home/Richmond Reception Center, 11802 99 Avenue, Grande Prairie.
