Obituary of Isaac Peters

January 20, 1937 – August 16, 2018

Isaac passed away in Grande Prairie, AB on August 16, 2018 at the age of 81 years.

He was born in Mexico in 1937 to Jacob and Helena Peters, the eldest of 9 children.  In 1953 the family moved to Canada and after some years moved to BC., and then to LaCrete, AB.  On Sept 1, 1963 he married Elizabeth Janzen.

Isaac’s education began in a small German school in Mexico.  After coming to Canada he worked hard to learn English and did his high school by mail.  In 1969 Isaac and Elizabeth went to Calgary where he attended Mount Royal College.  In 1976 and 78 they adopted 2 children, David and Lisa.  Lisa’s birth mother, Colleen, became a close friend/daughter to him.

In 1988 Isaac moved the family to Slave Lake where he worked at Whitecap Motors until his retirement in 2004.  In July Isaac and Elizabeth moved to Grande Prairie, AB where one of his favorite pastimes included gardening.  He enjoyed growing vegetables and fruit trees and shrubs.  He felt led to serve the Church with his talents in accounting.  He also enjoyed spending time at Lisa’s lake lot sitting by the camp fire and watching the grandchildren play and grow.

Isaac is survived by his spouse, Elizabeth; his two children David (Brandi) and Lisa (Bruce); his six grandchildren; Tanner, Tanicka, Thomas, Tanis, Isabella and Lucas and one great grandchild, Tia.  He is also survived by five siblings; David (Marie), Helen (David), Susan (Marvin), Kathy, and Margaret (Herman).

He was predeceased by his father, Jacob; mother, Helena; brothers Jake and Peter and his sister Annie.

Visitation for Isaac will take place on Tuesday, August 21, at 6:30pm at Bear Creek Funeral Home/Richmond Reception Center, 11802 99 Avenue, Grande Prairie.

A Funeral service for Isaac will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 2pm at the Westpointe Community Church, 11305 Pinnacle Blvd., Grande Prairie with interment to follow at Emerson Trail Cemetery.
