Obituary of George Clifford Walker
In Loving Memory
July 15, 1920 – August 20, 2018
After a long life of 98 years, George passed away at Points West Care facility in Grade Prairie, Alberta with his loved ones by his side.
George was born in Victoria BC. He completed grade school in Victoria then attended University of Victoria to receive an education in pharmacy. He worked as a pharmacist for a few years. In 1942, George married Edith, whom he affectionately called “My Sweetheart” and started a family. Their family eventually grew to nine. George really preferred to work outdoors so he changed his work and became a Jack of all trades. He took up carpentry, masonry, roofing, to name a few, and later moved the family to Merville BC where he started his roofing business, teaching the trade to his sons as well.
George often took his family on wilderness excursions and camping trips. While sitting around the campfire, George would play his harmonica.
Over the years that followed, he continued to play music on his harmonica, sing, and yodel, bringing enjoyment and entertainment to many who came into his life, right up to the age of 98.
George is pre-deceased by Edith (his wife of 75 years), his son Marty, and his sisters Virginia and Enid.
George lives on in the memories of his sons Dennis, Russell (Esther), Ken, Randy; daughters Lorraine, Joan, Janet (Lloyd), Christine; daughters-in-law Lynda and Kathy; 26 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; nephews Darrell and Warren, and niece Pamela.
A Memory Picinic for George will be held on September 8, 2018 in Cranbrook BC.
