Evelyn May (Benn) Bredeson

April 26, 1948 – September 11, 2018

It is with heavy hearts the family of Evelyn Bredeson mournfully announce her passing at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with her loved ones by her side, on September 11, 2018 after a 2-year battle with cancer.

Evelyn was born in Beaverlodge, AB to Olive Evelyn (Hope) Benn and Gerald Weese Benn on April 26, 1948; the 4^th child of 8. She started school at the Ashdown School which was close to the Homestead in Valhalla, AB.  Then of the span of her school years she attended Valhalla Center School, Clairmont School and Harry Balfour.  Finishing at the Vocational School and the Composite High School for Graduation.  While in High School Evelyn met, dated for a couple years and then married her husband, of 51 years, Delbert Leroy Bredeson, in the Clairmont United Church on June 16, 1967.  Their union brought them 4 beautiful children, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.   Evelyn’s career path consisted of working in the Grande Prairie Auxiliary Hospital, Allied Welding, Royal Bank of Canada and then landed her at Alberta Power aka. Atco Electric where she worked for over 30 years to an early retirement to spend more time with her one true passion, her family and friends.  Evelyn was often found on the trapline with her husband and her children hunting and trapping together right up to last winter.

Evelyn is pre-deceased by her mother Olive, father Gerald, brother-in-law Michael O’Grady, sisters-in-law Karen Benn & Alvina Benn, grandparents Walter Morris & Pearl Rebecca Hope, Grandma Sorenson, Perry Calvin & Etta May Benn, Aunt Margaret Evelyn (Hope) & Harry Dixon, Aunt Della, Percy Emerson & Ivy Hope.

Evelyn will forever live on in the memories and in the hearts of her husband Delbert Leroy; her 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and extended families; Debbie (Alan) Bobbie (Layton) Easton & Sawyer; Cody (Danielle) Gia, Cheryse (Trevor) Harper; Tammy (Stacy), Colton (Demi), Carson, Mathew; Todd (Carey), Chase, Erin, Kyle (Mieka), Brittney (Jordan) Wyatt, Rylee, Morgan; Jody (Jason), Wyatt, Skyler, Tucker; her brothers, Ken and Wayne; 5 sisters, Jeannette (Barry), Marion (Romeo), Hazel (Willie), Marilyn, Lynn (Donny) and many nieces and nephews. 

A Celebration of Life for Evelyn May Bredeson will be held on Monday September 17th at 2pm, at the Bear Creek Funeral Home/Richmond Reception Center 11802 99 Ave, Grande Prairie, AB, with refreshments to follow at the same location.  At the family’s desire there will not be an interment following the service as this will take place in private for the family at a later date and time.
