Obituary of Donny Schoeneman

July 20, 1977 - September 23, 2018

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father, son and brother Donny Schoeneman, at the age of 41.

Donny was born in Calgary, AB and moved to Tilley, AB at the age of 5. He attended school in Tilley for grades 1 through 12. Growing up in a small town, Donny spent most of his time dirt biking out at the sand hills and around the Princess area with his father, brother and friends. On Sundays growing up most kids spent their day in church, the Schoeneman kids spent their day with guns and dirt bikes. As a kid Donny looked forward to "Sunday Gun-day" and hunting with his dad and brother. Donny shot his first mule deer at age 14, this was such a proud moment for him and his dad.

Following high school Donny jumped right into working as an X-ray Operator in Brooks, AB. At age 24 he was blessed with his first son Aidan who brought so much joy to his life. In 2003 Donny met his future wife Brandy Anthony. They were blessed with their first child Donny Jr on September 16, 2005. Shortly after Donny moved his family to Sexsmith, AB to pursue his career as a Level II Radiographer. He was finally living out his dream of owning an acreage. On July 18, 2009 Donny and Brandy married and the following year on September 21st their beautiful daughter Raeanna was born. First and foremost Donny was a family man, he loved to take the kids dirt biking, quading and sledding in the winter. Eventually each of the kids got their own "toys" and would ride with Donny into the back trails. In the fall of 2017 Donny was diagnosed with Laryngeal Cancer. The following January Donny went to stay with his sister Chrissy in Airdrie, AB and began his treatment at the Tom Baker Cancer Center. August of 2018 he was declared cancer free. Suddenly on September 23, 2018 Donny passed away in his home with his wife by his side.

Donny is survived by his loving wife Brandy, his sons Aidan and Donny Jr and his daughter Raeanna. Also survived by his father Don Schoeneman and his wife Anna, mother Linda Cartwright and her husband Kevin, sister Chrissy Simonelli and her husband Mitz and Grandmother Gloria Schoeneman. Also survived by numerous Uncles, Aunts, nieces and nephew. He will be sadly missed by his special nieces Paris and Brielle.

Donny was predeceased by his younger brother Andrew, grandfather Don Schoeneman, grandmother Anne Russell and grandfather Elman Russell.

A Celebration of Donny’s Life will be held October 3, 2018 at 5:00 at the Webster Hall in Sexsmith, AB.
