Obituary of Jacob Simon Frey
Jacob (Jack) Simon Frey peacefully passed away at Points West Living on November 14th, 2018 at the age of 94 years.
Jack was born in Denzil, Saskatchewan but spent most of his life in Alberta. He married Dorothy Miller on October 23rd, 1945 and moved to Whitelaw in 1949 where they raised a family of 13 children. Jack was a resourceful person persevering through many obstacles to create a good life for his large family. He worked as a steam engineer and did a lot of woodworking on his job and personally. Jack taught his children good work ethics and was a loyal husband to Dorothy for 73 years. He was a participant and fan of many sports including hockey, baseball, curling and golf and was involved in coaching many of his children. The family would like to thank all the staff at Points West Living and The Gardens for the excellent service Jack received while under their care. Jack enjoyed visiting very much with family and friends and also enjoyed playing cards. He will be missed by many people with many fond memories.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy and his 13 children; Shirley (Peter) Bakker, Agnes (Ray) Valiquette, Isabelle Thorson (Les Campbell), Marlene (Jim) Begg, Yvonne (Bruce) Schuster, Russ (Lilly), Leo (Connie), Theresa Frey, Marcel (Lois), Leann (Daniel) Caron, Jeanette (Dale) Wardill, Jackie (Wayne) Villeneuve, Lionel and 26 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister (Irene Biegel) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack is pre-deceased by his parents Adam and Rachel, his sisters Florence, Mary, Emily, Betty and Carol, brothers Alex, Ray and John, grandchildren Derek Frey and Jason Thorson, great grandchildren Jonah and Joshua Hamelin and son-in-law Leonard Thorson.
A Funeral Service will be held for Jack Frey on Friday November 23rd, 2018 at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church (10404 102 Street, Grande Prairie, AB) at 11:00am with a luncheon to follow.
