Obituary of Rosemarie J. Angen
ANGEN, Rosemarie Joan (July 2, 1948 – April 4, 2015)
Rosemarie passed away at Points West Hospice on April 4 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Sexsmith, AB, the third child of Olaf and Cecile Angen. Rosemarie was raised in LaGlace. She was our “Little Tomboy” and she loved her childhood — playing sports which included: fastball, soccer, curling, golf, riding her bike, and spending time outside with animals and friends. She made many life-long friends and she enjoyed the comradery of teammates.
Rosemarie attended the LaGlace School from grades 1 – 10. Her class was the first to be bussed to Sexsmith for grades 11 and 12. After grade 12, Rosemarie took office training and worked at the BMO and then for the County of Grande Prairie.
The job that Rosemarie loved was working in the duplicating office at GPRC. She was very well liked because of her friendly nature and she would go out of her way to get jobs done even if it meant staying late or going back to work in the evenings.
For the last 12 years, Rosemarie and her mom lived at Emerald Estates. Rosemarie was an active member of this small community and she served faithfully on the Board. She was loved by all the residents.
Rosemarie always treasured family and friends. She was proud to be part of the Sandboe and Torgerson clans.
The Sallis family has been a huge part of Rosemarie’s life. During her illness, the support provided by Buzz’ family has been amazing. Heartfelt thanks to all!
Rosemarie had a special love for animals. She showed great affection to her pets and to pets of other people like Simon, Jean, and Phil’s dog. She also had an interest in wild animals which was evident by the bird feeders posted on the condominium fence.
She leaves to mourn her mother Cecile Angen, brother Garry (Lynn) Angen, sister Gail (Ross) Risvold, special long-time friend Buzz Sallis, his siblings Cindy (Dale) Sandboe, Garry (Bernadette) Sallis, Ted (Tara) Sallis, and Lorraine (Ben) Sallis, as well as numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and many close friends.
Rosemarie was predeceased by her father, Olaf Angen, several aunts and uncles, her cousin Cindy Newsom, and her special friend Valerie Griffith.
Please join us to remember Rosemarie on Friday, April 10 at 2PM at LaGlace Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank all medical staff, especially the hospice staff, for the outstanding care provided to Rosemarie.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grande Prairie Hospice Palliative Care Society (PO Box 21215 Grande Prairie AB T8V 6W7) or to Calvary Lutheran Church in LaGlace AB.
