Obituary of Thelma (LaFleur) Smilley
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother on January 20, 2019. Thelma passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the people she held closest to her heart, after a long brave battle with cancer.
Thelma was known for her love and devotion to her children and grandchildren. She dedicated her life to her family, her career and her beautiful flower gardens. Thelma will forever live on in the hearts of her children as well as the many that loved her. The beautiful soul fondly referred to as the baby whisperer will be deeply missed.
Thelma was born in Fort Vermillion, AB on January 24, 1965. She was the 3rd child of Hubert & Tina LaFleur. She was raised in High Level, AB. and spent the last 15 years in Grande Prairie, AB.
Thelma’s hard work, dedication and passion for her life long career with child and family services brought so much joy and light to so many people. She was known for her kindness, meticulous eye for detail, and a beautiful gift of bringing peace and love to every life she touched. She was loved immensely by both her clients and peers, as well as anyone fortunate to have met her. She thoroughly enjoyed volunteering in her community and loved supporting anyone who asked.
She is survived by her children Dalal, Nabeel (Lindsey) Mohamed-Ameen, Jordan and Kassidy, her grandchildren Kale, Savannah, Emery and Nixon, her parents Hubert (Cathy) and Katherina, her siblings Rick, Todd, Dale (Raeanne), Angela (Kevin) and Clinton (Lisa), her nieces and nephews Larissa (Morgan), Kenton, Desirae (Travis), Danielle (Paul), Devon, Riel, Christopher, Justin (Emma), Chelsea (Wyatt), Roman and Alexander, 15 wonderful great nieces and great nephews as well as many children whom she loved like her own over many years.
She was predeceased by her beautiful daughter Savannah Lynn and her brother Audie Joe.
