Fern was born in High Prairie on December 14, 1928 and passed away at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie on April 9, 2015 at the age of 86 years. She married and raised her three children in Woking, and moved to Grande Prairie in 1966, where she resided until her death. Fern was a custodian and volunteer for several years at Swanavon School. Fern is survived by her daughter Gail (Dave) Dootoff of Grande Prairie and grandson Rory Martel of Kelowna. She was pre-deceased by her husband Albert Martel and sons Roger and Grant. A memorial service will be held at Woking Community Hall on Saturday, April 18th at 1 PM with Pastor Dave Friesen officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at Spirit River Cemetery.
