Obituary of Stephen Lee Erno
October 18, 1976 – March 11, 2019
Stephen Erno, lifelong resident of Grande Prairie, passed away March 11, 2019 after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
A lover of animals and nature, Stephen preferred to work and play outdoors, and spent many of his 42 years there. While his residence was in the City of Grande Prairie, Stephen spent many of his formative years on the farms of his grandparents and aunt in the Central Peace. Into his twenties, there were few backroads he hadn’t explored, and he was particularly fond of the lakes, streams, and canyons near Grande Cache. Despite the reduced mobility that came with the progression of his condition, he still preferred the cool breeze and warm sunshine of the open air and became a fixture in his wheelchair outside of his home.
Stephen is survived by his father, Lee Erno; his brother, Tyson Erno; step-siblings Garret Sheridan and Tatum Halladay and their children; his grandmother, Beryl Dean; his step-grandmother, Bernice Lewis; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Linda Erno (Knezevich), and his step-mother, Bette Erno (Lewis).
A viewing will be held Saturday, March 16 from 2pm to 4pm at Bear Creek Funeral Home, 11802 99 Avenue, Grande Prairie. His cremated remains will be spread amongst the rivers and woods he treasured.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Stephen’s name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, 10901-100 Street, Grande Prairie AB T8V 2M9.
