Obituary of Dean C. Wanyandie

WANYANDIE, Dean (1944-2015) Dean was born at Jarvis Lake on August 8, 1944 and passed away in Grande Cache on April 23, 2015. He married the love of his life, Mary Vivian Moberly, on October 28, 1978. He was the proud father of four children: Bradley, Darryl, Cathy, and Connie, and proud grandfather of four grandchildren; Tyson, Tori, Kyleigh, and Deanna. He loved spending time with his family, children, and grandchildren, visiting around the community, hunting, quadding, and supervising the TLU camps (and everyone in them). Dean worked at the Grande Cache Institution for 19 years. He retired in 2005 and devoted his time to his family and volunteer roles on the Susa Creek School Board and as a knowledgeable elder for AWN. He was a frequent and welcome visitor at the school office. He had a great sense of humour, spoke exactly what was on his mind, and was a man of deep faith and conviction. Most of all, he always tried to live life in the best way possible, and would do his best for his children, grandchildren, and community. He will be deeply missed. Dean is survived by his children: Brad (Stephanie) Moberly and their kids Tyson and Tori; Darryl (April Landry) Wanyandie; Cathy (Jonas Whitehorse) Wanyandie and their kids Kyleigh and Deanne Rain; and Connie Wanyandie; his siblings: Philomene, Adelaide, Mabel, Russell, and Dorothy (Joe) Karakunte. He was pre-deceased by his parents Daniel and Lucy Wanyandie, his wife Mary Vivian Wanyandie, and his siblings Laudley, Archie, Rex, and Gloria Wanyandie and Marie McDonald. A wake will be held on Friday night, April 24, at Eagles Nest. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Roman Catholic Church at 11AM on Saturday, April 25, with burial at Susa Creek Cemetery. Luncheon will follow at the Metis Hall. Care entrusted to Bear Creek Funeral Home Grande Prairie 780-830-7742 www.bearcreekfuneral.com
