Obituary of Gwen Hommy
May 12, 1943 – April 30, 2019
It is with heavy hearts we sadly announce the passing of Gwen on April 30th, 2019 at the age of 75 years,
Mom was born in Grande Prairie and raised in Albright – Godfare area. She met Dad and they married in 1960 and had four children. Mom & Dad moved around a bit, eventually ending up back in the Goodfare area.
Mom had various jobs through the years but always worked beside Dad where everyone knew she was actually the Boss!
Besides Family, sewing was a passion of hers and creating beautiful quilts was a favorite pastime. She spent countless hours at it. When the Sewing Club got together, no one knew what final projects would be made.
She was always up for a tea with her many friends and enjoyed the many family gatherings we shared often. Mom’s other hobbies were travelling to Arizona with Dad in the winter and cutting her grass in the summer. Neither will be the same without her.
Gwen is survived by her husband, Larry, daughter Monica (Donald) Elliot, Darren, Andy (Laurelle) a sister, Judy Holland (Cal), brother Dennis Fair (Fern), eight grandchildren, 11 great grandkids and numerous other relatives.
She was predeceased by her parents, Doreen and Johnston Fair, her son Darell Hommy, sister Kay Southwick, aunt Ivy Eastman, uncles Gordon Boan, Ernie & William Fair, and a brother-in-law Franklin Hommy.
A Gathering of Family & Friends will be held on Friday, May 10th at 2pm at the Albright Hall with a reception, following a private graveside service for family and close friends at the Gimli Cemetery at 1pm.
We love you. Goodbye Mom.
