Obituary of Colleen Bertha Marie Watchorn

Colleen Bertha Marie Watchorn

September 17, 1952 – October 11, 2019

After a strong battle with cancer, our dear wife, stepmom, grandmother, sister and aunt was finally set free to join her angels on October 11, 2019.

Colleen Watchorn was born September 17, 1952 in Kelowna, BC to Stanley and Leah Webber.  She spent her early life in British Columbia.  Colleen graduated from the University of Victoria with a degree in psychology.  She then moved to Raymond, Alberta and worked at the Southern Alberta Society for the Handicapped for 20 years. During this time, she became an Auxiliary Constable with the RCMP in southern Alberta.  She became motivated to join the RCMP as a Member at the age of 45, when told by an unknown source that she would not be able to survive Depot. At that point, she decided to take on the challenge and prove that person wrong.  She proudly graduated from Depot in Regina at the age of 46 as a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.  Colleen‘s first posting was in Fairview, Alberta in 1997, where she met a very charming and handsome Auxiliary Constable, Bruce Watchorn,  and three months later they were engaged to be married.

Bruce and Colleen were married August 8, 1998 in Fairview, Alberta at which point in time she became a stepmom of 3 and grandma. Over the next 21 years, she accumulated a total of 9 grandchildren who she adored and supported, lovingly.

In 2004, Colleen retired from the RCMP as a member but continued to work as a steno for seven years, until she was diagnosed with cancer. She then retired.

After kicking cancer in the butt, she kept herself busy with card making, camping, and hanging out in cold arenas, ball parks and dance halls cheering on her beloved grandchildren.

Colleen discovered a passion for angel card reading, Hands on Healing, Reiki, and anything else she could learn about the angel world. She touched the lives of many who were seeking help and healing, and as well, made a connection with several friends in the healing community.

In the fall of 2018, Colleen‘s cancer came back with a vengeance, which she finally succumbed to on October 11, 2019, although during her final days she kept her family smiling with her sweet humour, hugs and kisses.

Colleen leaves behind her loving husband Bruce, step children Len (Eva) Watchorn, Lori (Robert) Tarzwell, Lisa (Jason) Kramer, grandchildren Tallon, Jesse, Damon, Joshua, Kaylee, Emma, Chloe, Seth and Kashya, as well as grand-puppies Coco, Macie, and Gus, brothers Clifford (Lynn) Webber and Clayton Webber, as well as many nieces and nephews. Colleen had an especially close relationship with niece Cayla Webber, as well as her very special sister-in-law and best friend who stayed with her until the end, Carol Fox.

Colleen was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Leah Webber, her brother Colin Waddell, sisters-in-law Elaine Webber and Barb Waddell.

The family would like to thank the staff on 4 South at the QEII hospital and the staff at Prairie Lake Hospice, formerly Points West Hospice for their extraordinary care for Colleen in her final weeks.
