Obituary of George Clutton
September 11, 1958 – January 23, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of George Clutton announces his passing after a short and courageous battle with cancer. His final days were spent in the care of the amazing staff at Prairie Lake Hospice.
George attended school in Sunset House and Valleyview. He also attended Fairview College and Western Canada School of Auctioneering. He married Val on July 4, 1981 and they resided in Fox Creek Alberta until June 2010, at which time, they relocated to Grande Prairie. While in Fox Creek, their family was completed with the births of two children, Phoenix (1984) and Dakota (1988).
George’s life long career in the Oil and Gas Industry included employment with Braidnor Construction, Amoco, Rio Alto Exploration and CNRL. Upon retiring George was able to spend more time camping with friends and wood working. Over the years, George volunteered his auctioneering skills for many charities. He also put in many volunteer hours at Silver Birch Golf Course.
George is fondly remembered by his loving wife Val; daughter Phoenix (Ryan Simpson); and granddaughters Reese Routhier and Piper Routhier; Mother Phyllis Clutton; sisters Judy Payne and Margaret Allen, and brother Robert (Terry) Clutton, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Upon Dakota’s passing, Kitty quickly gained a prime spot in George’s heart and will forever miss him.
George was predeceased by his son Dakota, Father Clifford, sister Joan Dove, brother-in-law Bill Payne and nephew Tyrone Allen.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 1st at 1:00 p.m. at Bear Creek Funeral Home (Peace Hall) 11802 99 Avenue, Grande Prairie
