Kelsey and Kim and families; I was so sorry to hear of your Mum’s illness and then her death. She and your Dad were a great support when my husband died . As well as sharing her recovery with me numerous times and ways when I was in need. She will be sadly missed in the recovery community of Grande Prairie and area.. Hold tight to your memories and share them often with each other and your families especially your children.

Our deepest sympathies to the family for your loss. I haven’t seen Jan in many years but do remember & appreciate all her help to the skating club in Grande Prairie, especially the Carnival duties & costumes. We enjoyed many conversations at the rink between meetings waiting for volunteers for different Carnival duties & costume organization. I still have 1 very vivid memory of Jan, although it’s been over 20 years. I’ve been told by friends & family that I have the ability to help people through tough times in their lives, very much like Jan was able to do. My family was having a crisis & for once I was unable to help them or myself, I was at a loss & didn’t know what to do. Jan & I were chatting & I told her about our dilemma. We spent the next hour talking about it & she helped me deal with it so that in turn I could help my family. I will never forget that open & honest conversation we had & how I left the arena that night feeling so much better about things & how to help the rest of the family. Farewell Jan & may you Rest in Peace now that you are with the Angels. Fly Free my friend.

Brian and Charlain And all the family……Shock and sadness when I saw Jan’s picture. Hugs and prayers to you all!! Janice was the same age as Del…her and Pat and Del and I shared Ryan and Arlyn long after the high school years we shared. Janice was so ill for such a long time, so although we will all feel very sad at her passing, we must be happy for her – no more pain and suffering. My daughter, Sharon, visited her as much as she could during Janice’s illness, and always reported how she never lost her pride and dignity. As I remember Janice, she walked tall with her head held high. She was a beautiful skater and we were as proud of her as for our own children. And of course there was always that smile. So, Janice, from this old friend comes a very loving “goodbye”, with fond memories of you. God has blessed you in many ways. He knows you well. Regards, Janet Ophus.

My deepest condolences to Janice’s family. Words never express the empty space that the passing of a loving parent, daughter and friend, such as Janice, leaves. I first met Janice at the GP Memorial Arena, where her father was the figure skating coach. We were both tall girls, and in many of the choreographed numbers, our height had us looking eye to eye, as the center anchor pegs of the pinwheel. Janice was always a generous spirit, giving of her self and of her talent. RIP Janice. May comfort and love surround your family at this most difficult of times.
