Gary Kostiuk

Obituary of Gary A Kostiuk

On May 17th 2016, the world lost a truly extraordinary, kind, and wonderfully funny man. Dr. Gary Alan Kostiuk, born December 12th 1960, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children in the comfort of his home in Grande Prairie, Alberta. It won’t come as a surprise to those who know him that his last words were not ones of sadness or regret, instead they were funny, light hearted and at times sarcastic. Gary chose to comfort the ones he loved through humour, compassion, and love in his final days. He always put family first above himself, even during the toughest times of pain, and hardship while battling Multiple Sclerosis. Gary’s spirit will live on through his wife Tracy Kostiuk, his children Ryan (Falin) Kostiuk, Christine (Ryan) Boyd, Matthew (Emily) Kostiuk, Patrick (Mackie Scholtes) Kostiuk, and his four grandchildren Austin, Jackson, Brody, and Bennett. His humor and passion for life will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the community of Grande Prairie. For anyone that had the opportunity to meet Gary you will know he lived a life worth celebrating. On behalf of Gary, we would like to invite family, friends, colleagues, and patients to join us for his Celebration of Life at The Revolution Place; Bowes Family Crystal Gardens on Sunday May 29th, 2016 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Optometry Giving Sight http://www.givingsight.org/ We miss you so much Gary, Dr. Dad. We love you.
