There are no words to be able to convey how very grieved I am for you Maggie. I just read this as we have moved from GP to Sundre. I will always remember Les as a kind , warm and caring man. I always enjoyed seeing you together because your love and respect for each other was very evident. I will pray that God will comfort you and your family as you continue your journey with him gone. If I could I would certainly give you s big hug my friend.

To Aunt Maggie and the gang I wish I was able to find the words that would mend your hearts at the loss of continued companionship off such a great man. A husband, a father, a grandfather and a role model to so many that where blessed enough to meet uncle Les. I wish I could find words to help you focus on all the memories of laughter and happiness he has brought into your lives. To help with the pain of the present and the anxiety of the future with out everyone’s superman. He has left a legacy, as you look around a piece of him lies with in all of you. Each of you where blessed with your individual memories when put together describes a great man you all know and will continue to know because though uncle Les passed he will be in all of your heart’s with you always. May the love of family and friends help you all mend your hearts.

Our hearts go out to you Maggie, Bryan, Rebecca and Meghan as you deal with the loss of your husband and father. Les was a man who was bigger than life, both physically and in his personality. I (Kevin) enjoyed playing football with him in the early 80’s where we won a city title with the Michael’s Flooring team – he was a great lineman who always dreamed of getting the screen pass and running for a touchdown (which he did a few times!). I also coached many years with Les at the peewee and bantam levels – he loved the game, the competition and the camaraderie of the boys and the coaches. He tried to help each player become the best he or she could be and inspired many of them with his encouragement and his technical advice. Lastly, I worked with Les for many years in the Woodyard at Weyerhaeuser. He loved to run machinery and was a very efficient operator moving logs, feeding decks and keeping the processes running. Les always wanted to make things better and found many ways to improve the operation. Even when the cancer started to reduce his energy – which was years after the doctors said he would be immobile – Les still found ways to get to work as much as he could and help the operation. He worked around the cancer and continued to live life with gusto – like the season he spent in a lawn chair coaching the peewees during one of his treatments. Les – we are all the richer for knowing you and enjoying your zest for life, your humor and your passion. God’s blessing on you as you join a new league and take up a new position – try to be gentle with the ones who don’t know how fierce you can be!
