Dear Mary Lou, Cec, Graham & Catilin; We are so saddened to learn about Stewart’s passing. I cannot begin to imagine how you handle the passing away of a son or a brother, way too young. I feel very fortunate to have met Stewart a few times and known him a little bit – he helped me out a few times when he managed the Staples store, and we had the pleasure of your family joining us for a school party with everyone taking a turn at karaoke. He accomplished so much in the short time he was on this earth. He positively influenced so many lives doing what he loved to do and what he believed in. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Angie Genovese-Cook, Dave Cook and family

Stewart was a kind soul with a generous heart. He was always willing to help others. I appreciated his support many years ago with the school choirs and choral speech groups as we prepared for participation in the GP Music Festival. More recently, it was always a treat when Guy and I would run into him occasionally and have a quick chat. Mary Lou, Cec, and Graham & Caitlin, may the love of family and friends comfort and strengthen you in the days ahead.

I know that Stewart has touched many lives including ours. Stewart reached out to Sean in the classroom at Parkside. He was a gentle giant that Sean could turn to when he needed someone in his corner. I will never forget the day that Stewart took Sean golfing. Sean came home enthralled with the day, the golf and the time spent with Stewart, so much so that he took his savings and went out and bought himself a set of clubs :) Whenever I saw Stewart around town there was always a smile and inquiry as to how Sean was doing. Stewart , Sean will never forget you, your empathy, generosity, your good nature and your tall stature. You have left a legacy here. My heart goes out to the Vance family, I am thinking of you during these dark times and hoping that you can find some light just as Stewart gave light to Sean. Nancy-Marie

I have many fond memories of Stewart, but one of my favourites would be of him taking me on a tour of the G.P comp the year I was going into grade 10. He took away the fears I had of entering the high school by using his sense of humor and his compassion. Stewart had a gift for not only making people comfortable, but animals as well. My deepest condolences to all the Vance family. May you rest in peace Stew.

oh my, what a blow. My heart aches for this tragic loss and the Vance family. It has been a long while since I lived in GP but my high school years were made better by Stewart’s presence. I was honoured to attend his grad as his date, Christmas parties, movies etc.. He was so easy to be with, wicked sense of humour and one of the kindest souls I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing, a truly good human. Choir would not have been the same without him, especially jazz choir. I will always carry fond memories of him, RIP Stewart. <3 Kyla

I was so fortunate to be able to get to know Stewart after marrying my husband. Our shared passion of horses fueled our friendship. He made many trips out to visit, see the family and come out and play with the ponies. Stewart was an amazing horseman and friend. A great man was taken from all of us way too soon. I feel blessed and honored that I was apart of your life. Rest in peace Stew Love Sorensen family Karl, Aarin, Bryce & Melyssa
