Obituary of Mary Minerva McKeeman

December 16, 1919 – February 5, 2017 Mary Minerva McKeeman, lifetime resident of Grande Prairie, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Sunday, February 5th, 2017 at the Grande Prairie Care Center, at the age of 97. Mary grew up on a farm in the Dimsdale area with her younger sister Blanche. On December 9, 1941 she married Dan McKeeman and together they farmed that same land and raised their four children. Mary’s greatest joy was her family. She loved the outdoors and spent hours walking the land, gardening, baking, knitting and hosting Bible studies. Until the age of 92, Mary held a weekly ‘tea time’ in her home serving freshly baked buns to a host of neighbours and friends. Mary is lovingly remembered by her sons Robert (Heather), David (Marlene), daughter Kathy Petersen (Earl); grandchildren and great grandchildren: Carrie Olfert, Brennen Olfert (Cassy), Michelle Yorke (Richard); Jennifer Mechanuck (Curtis), Noah; Wade McKeeman (Robin), Emma and Levi; Loralee Kloberdanz (Jason), Jaylee and Zanden; Courtney McKeeman (Pam), Ariana (Ian Lukin), C.J., Bailey, Isaac; Jason McKeeman (Bonnie); Shawn Petersen (Trish), Piper; Tiffany Steuber (Les), Brielle; Cooper Petersen (Michelle), Phoenix, Ruari, Dane. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Dan, daughter Mary Olfert, son-in-law Ike Olfert and sister Blanche Rehaume. A Celebration of Life for Mary McKeeman will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at People’s Church, 11850 108 Street Grande Prairie, at 2pm.
